HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TELEPHONE ADVICE ?
Your
doctor is happy to discuss, or advise on, some matters over the telephone.
We would, however, request that if possible your name, and a brief explanation
of the problem, should be left with the receptionist. This will then be
passed on to the doctor and you will be advised of the best time to call
back and speak to the doctor.
HOW
DO I...
MAKE
AN APPOINTMENT ?
TEL: 791094
We operate an appointment system, which means that all consultations
are by appointment only. Appointments can be made in person at reception
during surgery hours or by telephone.
If you consider that you
need an urgent appointment that day, it helps if you give a brief outline
of the problem to the receptionist who will make appropriate arrangements.
Please make a separate appointment for each person.
We try to keep
to appointment times but some problems may take longer than usual and
the doctor may occasionally be called out to an emergency. You may therefore
be seen later than your appointment time. Please be patient and understanding.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
A HOME VISIT ?
The doctors would prefer to see you at the surgery where all the
necessary equipment and resources are available. If, however, you are
genuinely too ill to come to the surgery, then please let us know as early
as possible in the morning. A doctor may telephone you back to discuss
your problem, prior to or in place of a visit.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN
TEST RESULTS AND X-RAY RESULTS ?
Please telephone for any results after 2.00pm Monday to Friday,
when the doctors will have seen the results for that day and when the
staff have more time to help. You will also find that telephone lines
are less busy at that time.
Most blood test results are available
within 72 hours although some can take up to two weeks. X-ray results
may take two to three weeks.
Results for any patients
over 16 can only be given to the patient personally or with written consent
of the patient, to protect confidentiality.
HOW
DO I...
OBTAIN A MEDICAL CERTIFICATE
?
You do not need a doctor's medical certificate
for any illness lasting seven days or less. You may be required to complete
a self certification form; this is available from your employer. For any
illness lasting longer than seven days you will either need to see the
doctor or arrangements will be made for a telephone consultation with
the doctor.
